RICHARD N. KOLESNICK, M.D. Chief Science Officer
Dr. Richard Kolesnick has developed the technology that is the scientific basis of Ras Therapeutics, Inc. He is a Member of the Molecular Pharmacology and Chemistry Laboratory of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center (MSKCC) at Sloan Kettering Institute in New York. Upon his arrival at MSKCC, Dr. Kolesnick was named Director of the Molecular Pharmacology and Chemistry Research Seminar Series and serves on the Executive Committee of the Experimental Therapeutics Center and Promotions Advisory Committee for the Department of Medicine. He currently maintains faculty positions at Memorial Hospital and Cornell University Medical College.
Dr. Kolesnick was recently named the National Institutes of Health Chairman of Special Emphasis Panel on Pancreas Cancer as a result of his work in this area. In addition, he serves on a number of scientific and medical societies including the American Federation of Clinical Research, American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Society for Biochemisty and Molecular Biology and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Dr. Kolensick has held editorial positions on a number of journals such as Endocrinology, Journal of Inflammation, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cancer Research, Cancer Biology and Therapy and Cell Death and Differentiation. He is credited with over 125 original articles and book chapters. |

MARGARET TEMPERO, M.D.
Dr. Margaret Tempero is an accomplished clinical and translational scientist with over 25 years of experience in gastrointestinal oncology. She is most well known for her work in novel therapeutics for pancreatic cancer, having published more than 100 original articles, chapters, and books on these subjects. A national opinion leader in GI oncology, she oversees the national guidelines for management of pancreatic cancer for the NCCN, is on the GI committee for the CALGB, and co-chaired the NCI's Progress Review Group on pancreatic cancer. She also participated in the Progress Review Group for colorectal cancer and served as the first chair of the NCI Special Review Panel for clinical trials grants for the NIH. She served for 5 years on the parent committee for the Cancer Centers Program for the NIH, is currently participating in the Translational Research Working Group and is a member of the Pancreas and Hepatobiliary Intergroup. She just completed a two-year term as Chair of the NIH Board of Scientific Counselors, subcommittee A and is a past President of ASCO (2003-2004), where she also served on the Board of Directors from 1998-2002.
At the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) she directs an NIH-funded program on Molecular Target Assessment and is co-leader of the Pancreas Cancer Program. In addition, she serves as the Deputy Director and Director for Clinical Sciences for the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center and as the Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine. She is on the editorial board of many prestigious journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research. |

GARY K. SCHWARTZ, M.D. Gary K. Schwartz, M.D., is currently Chief of Melanoma and Sarcoma Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Prior to his arrival at MSKCC, Dr. Schwartz worked at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Cornell University Medical College as an Instructor and Assistant Professor. Dr. Schwartz is recognized nationally for his pioneering work in developing new, more effective chemotherapy regimens for the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, with a special focus on developing new drugs that enhance the effect of chemotherapy.
Dr. Schwartz holds memberships in a number of professional organizations including Cancer and Leukemia Group B, American Association of Cancer Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Surgeons Oncology Group and Radiotherapy Oncology Group. He has been honored with a number of awards including the MSKCC Burdha Award for Colon Cancer Research, Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Research and Jeannik M. Littlefield - AACR Award in Metastatic Colon Cancer. Throughout his career, Dr. Schwartz has worked closely with the National Institutes of Health and served on a number of their review committees including the NIH Potential New Targets in Gastric Cancer.
Dr. Schwartz serves on a number of prestigious editorial boards including Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research. He has published more than 80 papers, 17 book chapters and nearly 100 abstracts. | |
